The Sound of Music

"The hills are alive with the sound of music!!!" I LOVE this musical!!!!! The best part is that for my birthday I will be seeing this at the Overture Center in Madison!!! Yay!!!! Okay, so for those of you who (must be crazy) haven't seen the musical I will give you sneak peak sorta thing. The main character Maria (who is played by Julie Andrews in the movie) is a nun. But she is asked to be the nanny for the Von Trapp kids whose dad was in the navy. So a lot of other stuff happens and because it takes place during the WW2 times the Nazis want Captain Von Trapp to join the German Navy. And he says no and they have to run away. Now my favorite part of writing these posts is always going and looking up a bunch of interesting facts about the musical. So here are some cool facts. The first fact is that The Sound of Music is actually a true story. Bizarre isn't it? Also in the movie version you know when Julie Andrews hits that crazy high note at the end of Do, Re, Mi? Well she wasn't actually supposed to go that high. She volunteered to go up another octave just because she could. And also when the movie was filmed the real Maria Von Trapp came in. The director didn't like her because he thought she was "too bossy". Well weren't those some interesting facts? Sorta. Whatever. It would be fantabulous if you guys kept following along with what I post. Thanks for reading!

Wicked

Image result for WickedWicked is my all time favorite musical ever!!!!!! Okay, that was very redundant. Anyway I absolutely luvs this musical!!!! Wow, I sure am using a lot of exclamation points. I saw this in Milwaukee one year for my birthday and it was absolutely fantabulous!!! In the original Broadway production of Wicked, the two main character were played by only the two best people ever!!! Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth!!!! Yayz!!!! So the story of Wicked is really and adaptation of the Wizard of Oz. It's about how the Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba) isn't really bad. She's just misunderstood. That's what Glinda is trying to convince everyone. But all the towns people are all like "No one mourns the wickeddddd!" And because nobody will believe her Glinda has to tell the story of how they were friends and all that jazz. Oops, wrong musical. Okay please hold for a moment while I find out a bunch of facts about Wicked.
Image result for Wicked                 Okay, I'm back. So first fact1 Like most musicals Wicked actually started out as a book! It was written by a guy named Gregory Maguire. Next fact which really surprised me was that when the book was written Gregory Maguire actually used L. Frank Baum's (the guy who wrote the Wizard of Oz) initials to get the name Elphaba. Also, in the original version Wicked, Fiyero was introduces with a song called Which Way's the Party. But Steven Schwartz eventually changed that because it didn't work as well with the musical. Weirdest thing of all was that at Idina Menzel's audition her voice cracked while trying to hit that last high note in Defying Gravity. But she still got the part which is fantabulous!!!! So yeah that's a bunch of cool facts about Wicked tune in next time for whatever musical I happen too choose.
