Weird Theater Superstitions and Traditions

Hello all you fabulous readers! So today I will be telling you about some really weird theater traditions and superstitions. Everyone's heard of how you say break a leg but there are some other really weird ones. Like NEVER apply makeup with a rabbit's foot. Never. Just don't do it. NEVER knit in the wings. Sorry guys can't make those hats anymore. Also NEVER exit the dressing room right foot first. Oh no! I hope I won't be cursed forever if I've accidentally dome that. As for traditions I don't really know many. Before the shows though at my school what we do is put our hand in a fist with our pinky up. The place it against another person's hand you each kiss your own hand. Why do we do it? I dunno. We were just taught it on opening night. Other things? Well wearing blue and yellow will make you forget your lines. So that's why one of the girls forgot her line She was wearing a blue and yellow toga! And apparently you aren't supposed to speak the last line of the show before opening night. This is terrible! We always spoke the last line of the show in rehearsal! The world is going to end!!!! Ok that's it for my overly exaggerated theater superstitions. Know any more weird ones? Please comment.

Xanadu

Hello all you fabulicious people! Yes I did just say fabulicious. It's a thing. Anyway today I will be talking all about Xanadu. So basically what happens is a Muse named Kira comes down to earth from Mt. Olympus to the year 1980 in Venice Beach California. She helps inspire a mortal named Sonny Malone to create the world's first roller disco. Oh I almost forgot! Apparently all mortals in the 1980s (I wouldn't know) wore roller skates, leg warmers, and had an Australian accent. Ok back to the plot. Kira falls in love with Sonny because of a curse two of her evil sisters placed on her. But Muses are forbidden to fall in love. So yeah it's basically a love story. Then again most musicals are so.... yeah. If you haven't already guessed from the way I end my posts this was the musical I starred in!!!! I played Kira. And let me tell you a few things. First of all it is very hard when you have only 30 seconds to switch from roller skates to regular shoes. It is not an easy task AT ALL. Also when you are wearing a blond wig and you have to put a fake flower in your hair, be prepared to have it get stuck. Lastly it is very awkward when you have to sit staring into someone's eyes. Especially if you don't know the person. So yeah. I really loved being in Xanadu. It was fantabulous. You will notice I put pictures of the musical on this post. These are real pictures of our performance and my hair is NOT naturally that color. Cause ,you know, that shade of blond doesn't look unnatural at all! In the picture on the left that is me and my BFF Brynn who played Thetis and on the right is me and the boy who played Sonny. On the bottom is me with some of the cast and crew. Going left to right is John who was the Cyclops, Maddie who was Hera, Teagan was in the Greek Chorus, Sammy who was one of my eight sisters, and a member of the crew. I soo can't wait for next years musical!!!!

10) Phantom of the Opera
9) Annie
8) Hairspray
7) The Music Man
6) Mary Poppins
5) Newsies
4) Cats
3) The Sound of Music

1) Wicked

So yes my all time favorite musical would be Wicked. It's just such a great musical and you have to be a really strong singer to be able to sing Glinda's and Elphaba's parts. I based this list off of musicals that I've actually seen. Because I really like the music of musicals like Les Mis and Annie Get Your Gun but I've never really seen them. If you disagree or think I forgot something, feel free to comment your list of your top ten favorite musicals. If you are currently liking this blog then please, please, keep reading. After all, we musical obsessors have to stick together! ;)
